Jake is unhappy at home because of his parents arguing. Find out how to deal with these kinds of difficult situations.

Jake regularly hears his dad shouting at his mum which upsets him and affects his behaviour at school. When Jake begins asking for help he finds the support he needs. Then he is able to deal with his problems and start controlling his anger. This unit looks at the reasons why parents might argue at home and who can offer children support when they are worried or frightened. It also looks at understanding emotions and how they affect your mood.

Teacher's note:

Jake's Story is a free learning resource for Key Stage 2 pupils examining domestic violence and its impact on children. It incorporates online activities and downloadable worksheets. It has strong curriculum links to PSHE and citizenship at KS2.
